Pilot Projects

Learning that grows, community by community

Each pilot is shaped by the place it serves. To protect privacy, communities are identified only by general area — our target is at least one Sankofa-led pilot in every volunteer country by the end of 2026.

Tanzania

Honda

Active

One of our founding pilots. Local teachers lead STREAM activities rooted in the community's daily life, and their story is being documented to help others begin.

India

Sadangi

Active

Sadangi is a tribal village in India, where the Aashraa Foundation first built trust through weekly nutrition kits and quarterly health camps before opening learning centres — a model of community-first engagement now delivering STREAM education to tribal learners.

Uganda

Najjanankumbi

Active

A creative arts–centred pilot in Kampala where learners explore banana plant fibers and local materials to craft ropes, mats and more — demonstrating how culturally grounded, hands-on learning fosters inclusion and innovation.

Nigeria

Nigeria pilot

Coming soon

An emerging pilot being developed with local volunteers, with on-the-ground narrative support from our Nigeria network.

Could your community be next?

We’re actively seeking new pilots and the community surveys that make them possible. If you’d like to start a Sankofa programme, we’d love to hear from you.
